Since smartphones have the ability to use both memory cards and flash drives, so long as the latter have microUSB ports, Kingston has just released both types of storage units.

One of them, the DataTraveler microDuo 3.0, is a microUSB flash drive which has the rare honor of supporting USB 3.0 transmission speeds (5 Gbps). MicroUSB devices usually don't go over USB 2.0 performance (480 Mbps).

The DataTraveler microDuo 3.0 does, of course, have a larger USB 3.0 port as well. Transfer speeds, they are of up to 70 MB/s read and 15 MB/s write on the 64 GB and 32 GB units, but the 16 GB one is limited to 10 MB/s write.

Meanwhile, the Class 10 UHS-I 90R/45W microSDHC/SDXC card (also available in 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB capacities) can go all the way up to 90 MB/s read and 45 MB/s write speed. The rates will allow mobile devices to shoot Full HD videos, 3D, and real-time broadcasts without stutter or interruptions.

Sadly, prices weren't included in Kingston's product release, which is a shame because it would have helped to know how the newcomers compare to the USB 2.0 microUSB OTG drives on the market and the various other Class 10 memory cards.
