German notebook vendor Cizmo has just announced its first mobile offering based on Intel's upcoming Centrino 2 platform. Despite the fact that Intel has not officially unveiled its ex-Montevina platform yet, Cizmo is the second vendor to announce its Centrino 2 products in less than a month.

The CX15 notebook from Cizmo is a 15.4-inch ultra-portable notebook equipped with the latest offering in the mobile sector. The European PC manufacturer announced that its CX15 notebook will be built around Intel's low-power, full-performance P series Core 2 Duo processors running at speeds of between 2.26GHz (P8400) and 2.6GHz (P9400).

Under the sleek bonnet, notebook enthusiasts will find Nvidia's high-end GeForce 8800M GTX mobile graphics processor, 2GB of memory, a 160GB drive and a bezel-mounted 2-megapixel webcam, all of them available in the default notebook configuration. The hardware cocktail is supposed to make no compromise in overall performance, while keeping the heat output to a minimum.

Customers will also be able to configure the laptop in the best manner to suit their computing requirements. The notebook can be equipped with hybrid 802.11n/WiMAX wireless card, a slim Blu-ray burner, larger hard drives, or up to a 64GB solid-state drive, but this configuration will add a little premium to the default $1,989 price tag.

The fully-equipped notebook can be used as a mobile substitute for traditional gaming desktop systems. However, should its technical specifications not suffice, users can always opt for manufacturer's high-end QX1730 offering, a 17-incher rigged with a desktop-class 2.83GHz Core 2 Quad processor and the "classical" 8800M GTX graphics chip.

The QX1730 comes with out-of-the-box 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless capabilities, while the expansion slots allow users to rig the notebook with two additional hard drives. Of course, pricing would scale accordingly, and the top configuration will leave you $3,812 shorter.

The German manufacturer did not announce information regarding its availability, but given the hype around the two models, they are likely to hit the shelves long before Intel goes official with the Centrino 2 platform.
