Video game developer Firaxis and publisher 2K Games are ready to reveal the official system requirements for Civilization: Beyond Earth, which will be delivered exclusively on the PC, and it seems that a wide range of computers will be powerful enough to run the new turn-based strategy title in its lowest settings.

The official page of the game states that, at a minimum, gamers will have to run Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 or Windows 7 on a computer powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 64 2.0 GHz processor.

2 GB of RAM are required and players need to also have a 256 MB ATI HD3650, 256 MB Nvidia 8800 GT or Intel HD 3000 or better graphics card.

Direct X 11 is also needed and the title asks for 8 GB of free hard drive space to be installed.

Firaxis adds, “Other Requirements: Initial installation requires one-time Internet connection for Steam authentication; software installations required (included with the game) include Steam Client, Microsoft Visual C++2012 Runtime Libraries and Microsoft DirectX. “

Civilization: Beyond Earth uses the same core engine as Civilization V, but there are some enhancements, both in terms of gameplay and visuals.

Gamers who want to see the full beauty of the title need to have a 1.8 GHz Quad core processor with 4 GB of RAM and an AMD HD5000 series, Nvidia GT400 series or Intel IvyBridge or better graphics card.

The other requirements stay the same.

Alien planets and new gameplay mechanics

Civilization: Beyond Earth is a turn-based strategy experience that will ask gamers to choose a faction and then explore and colonize an alien planet, dealing with both the local life forms and with a variety of other political entities.

The game uses the core concepts of the series, with the one military unit per hex rule, but there are also big changes to the technology progression, which is now based on a web rather than a tree.

The diplomatic side of the game is enhanced by the addition of Favors and gamers can choose to guide their factions towards three philosophies that determine how humanity will evolve on the new planet.

Civilization: Beyond Earth will be out on October 24 and gamers who pre-order it right now will be able to get an extra map pack with 6 interesting planets that they can try and colonize.
