The official website of the City of Waukee, Iowa, US, was defaced on Sunday and Monday. Visitors of the site (Waukee.org) were greeted with a messages that read: “Welcome to the city of the Cyber Czar.”

Waukee representatives have told SC Magazine that the attackers claimed to be part of the Anonymous movement.

The city is investigating the matter, but they’re confident that the hackers haven’t gained access to any sensitive information. City officials are considering replacing the site with a more secure one.

“One of the issues is that it’s a four-and-a-half year old website. It’s got code that’s four-and-a-half years old. It has some security issues with that,” City Administrator Tim Moerman told the Des Moines Register.

Interestingly, a post published recently on a hacking website shows that at least one SQL Injection vulnerability plagues (or plagued) the Waukee.org website.

Currently, the website appears to be working properly.
