At the moment, there's no info on when it will be launched

The development team at Colossal Games and publisher Paradox Interactive are announcing that they are actively working on a first major patch for Cities: Skylines, which should be able to deal with most of the problems the community has been flagging during the past week, when the title was first introduced.

At the moment, the two companies are saying that there's no Estimate Timed of Arrival for the patch because they are not having any major issues to deal with and they want to take the time required to make sure that the patch delivers solid improvements.

On the official Reddit for Cities: Skylines, the developers have put out an official call for information about the biggest problems currently affecting the city building experience, and it seems that the link between commercial demand and parks is still being investigated and it's unclear whether it is a global bug or it depends on circumstances.

Colossal Order says that it will try to eliminate all the occurrences of black screen on startups and will also try to get rid of the grey new game and load game buttons, even when saves are present.

The studio states, "If there are bugs causing these issues, we will of course strive to fix them. In case they are design decisions from CO that the players disagree with; we monitor the discussion and take the feedback into consideration going forward."

There are no plans to change core game mechanics just because a vocal minority of the community asks for tweaks.

Cities: Skylines has performed better than expected in its first week

More than half a million copies of the title have been sold, which is a new record for Paradox Interactive and that puts pressure on the involved companies to offer long-term support for it.

Cities: Skylines will benefit from balance patches and also from the launch of downloadable content packs that can improve the problems the game has with the end game and with replayability.

The core mechanics of the Colossal Order experience are very solid and the focus on the transport system is a very good choice.

But once a medium-sized city which runs relatively well is created, players have little more to do than simply tweak their creation.
