One of the films listed as part of the SXSW Midnight film festival is “Citadel,” a thriller / horror / drama from director Ciarán Foy. A first trailer has been released.

There are countless films out there exploiting the fear of generational aggression but, in this case, we're dealing with a project that is a tad more personal.

“Citadel” was inspired by director Ciarán Foy's personal experience of being attacked, and the fears and agrophobia he was left dealing with in the aftermath of the incident.

The film tells the story of a man whose wife is killed in a brutal attack by feral children, hooded figures that return later to hound him: they want his daughter and him dead.

These creatures feed on his fear of them, so they will always know where to look for him. The only way to defeat them is to face them.
