Despite the fact that he often defended himself from critics who blasted his creation, “Two and a Half Men” producer Chuck Lorre has finally decided to admit that his TV series was just a way of punishing viewers over the years.

In his acceptance speech at the Annual Television Academy Honors ceremony, the producer apologized for punishing the world in a very particular way for the past ten years or so. Lorre received an award for his new Show “Mom,” in which an alcoholic mother falls off the wagon and attempts to redeem herself.

Lorre likened her struggle with his and said that this show was his way of making amends with the world for “Two and a Half Men.” “To do a show about people trying to redeem their lives and to salvage and repair the damage they’ve done, for me, it’s an opportunity to apologize for Two and a Half Men,” he said, according to Variety.

His excuse is made complete by the fact that “Two and Half Men” has just announced its end after 12 seasons. But many will point out that the show still made him and the network millions, which kind of defeats the purpose of any excuse.
