Clint Eastwood is working on a movie adaptation of the stage show “Jersey Boys” and he’s just signed Christopher Walken for the lead, MSN reports, citing industry sources.

Walken would presumably play the “New Jersey mobster who helped the group build a music career,” Angelo “Gyp” DeCarlo, says the publication.

If there’s one type of role Walken does to absolute perfection, that’s the mobster.

“Previous reports suggest the director has chosen a young cast of rising stars to play Valli and his bandmates. Broadway star John Lloyd Young, who played Valli in the New York show, is rumored to be reprising his role for the film, and Vincent Piazza of ‘Boardwalk Empire’ is also said to be among the cast,” MSN says.

A rumored start date for the production is set for this summer but, as it happens, no official details are available at this time.

In other words, do take all of the above with a grain of salt.
