Christopher Nolan, the director of the biggest movie of the year, Inception, has revealed that he is currently looking into developing a video game, based on the extremely popular and thought-provoking movie.

According to Nolan, a video game based on the film might actually work, if it is given enough development time and all of the resources are made available to those that will work on it.

"We are looking at doing is developing a videogame based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can't fit into a feature film," Nolan said at a packed Rome press conference. "That's something we've been talking about and are looking at doing long term, in a couple of years."

Inception has already grossed over 753 million dollars across the world, and is now being premiered in Italy, its last major destination.

The movie has already reached cult status, being a hit not only with professional movie reviewers and critics, but also with the general public.

Nolan admits that he was a bit fearful when the movie launched, as he believed some might write it off as being too complicated.

"I did always intend for this film to give a mass audience a really entertaining experience," Nolan said. "But my fear with the film was always that it would be misinterpreted as being overly cerebral or puzzle-like."

Nolan's previous movie, The Dark Knight, also had a video game adaptation planned, which was supposed to be led by Pandemic Studios, but after the company dissolved, the whole project was scrapped.

Movie-based video games don't have the greatest of reputations, as only a few managed to shine among the plethora of titles that were launched in order to tie-in with movies like Avatar or Prince of Persia.

Such titles are usually rushed through development and only record sales because of the leftover hype coming from the actual movies.
