She has a body all women should aspire to have, being a curvy, healthy and enviable size 14. Christina Hendricks of “Mad Men” is now on the cover of the latest issue of GQ UK and, as usual, she talks about being and playing a very body-confident woman, and about how the world has reacted to her turning the tables and imposing a new size as the desirable standard, as opposed to a size 0.

Fans can now hardly tell the difference between Christina and the alpha female character she portrays in front of the cameras, Joan. The actress is not upset about the comparisons, especially when she’s learned so much from Joan, from how to handle herself around both men and women to how she should dress to better compliment that famous figure of hers. Asked which she hates more, tight dresses or herbal cigarettes, Christina doesn’t even flinch when she votes for the latter.

“I adore the incredibly tight clothing! My own wardobe’s changed – I’ve streamlined a little bit and definitely learnt from Joan’s sleekiness and tailoring. As for the herbal cigarettes, for the most part I don’t smoke as much as the guys do. I’m usually just strutting around a bit more so I don’t actually have to be inhaling it. I’m lucky because I do have scenes where the cigarettes work beautifully to punctuate certain things I’m saying,” the actress explains.

She also says she’d love it if the world would consider her a pinup as they do Joan – but she’s probably not aware she’s already seen as one already. Since she was embraced by the mainstream media, Christina’s name has been literally on everyone’s lips, from fashion magazine editors who proclaimed her the hottest woman with the hottest body of the year to the British equality minister who turned her into a role model for all women out there. In many respects, it’s rather hard to see where Joan ends and Christina begins: but the actress is thrilled to have had the chance to walk in Joan’s shoes.

“Joan’s a dream to play – she’s not always prancing around the office. There’s that side to it, which is really fun, but there’s nitty-gritty. She’s what makes the workplace so fun – in a workplace that can be so dark and so much tension, Joan gives some levity. And the wonderful thing is she still has these darker moments among the fabulous highs. […] I just keep praying for Joan to get her power back. To resolve her problems and rise to the top. To fight back!” Hendricks says in the same interview.
