Christina Aguilera and Cher have officially kicked off the promo tour for their upcoming film, “Burlesque.” As part of it, Christina put in an appearance on Jay Leno the other night for her first-ever performance of “Bound to You.”

In the introduction, Leno says Christina herself penned the song but that’s definitely not its strongest point, since it’s Aguilera’s brilliant voice, and the undulations and heights she can take it to that make of it the most beautiful ballad of recent years.

“Bound to You,” though considered by some not the best song to promote such a sassy and fun film as “Burlesque,” is a gorgeous ballad about love and the fear of losing it.

It will be included on the official soundtrack of the film, which comes out this Monday, November 22, while the film drops in theaters nationwide two days later.

For the Jay Leno appearance, Christina kept it simple, as she usually does with such performances: no heavy scenery, not too crowded a stage: just her and the band, the audience – and her voice.

Not that Aguilera needed more to make a lasting impression. Her voice is so beautiful and the song so powerful, and her rendition of it so compelling, that it’s no wonder people are raving about it on dedicated forums.

Undoubtedly, they don’t call Christina “The Voice” for nothing, it is being said. On the same note, “Bound to You” could very well be next year’s Best Song at the Oscars, regardless of how “Burlesque” may fare at the box office, Idolator notes.

“The film’s ballad, ‘Bound to You,’ co-written by Sia Furler, Samuel Dixon and the film’s ingenue-turned-flashdancer, Christina Aguilera, is a gorgeous, controlled tune, and could be the frontrunner to nab next year’s Best Original Song Oscar,” the e-zine says.

“Powerful, emotional and gripping, ‘Bound To You’ is Christina at her best. We almost don’t know what a song this gutwrenchingly beautiful is doing in a movie that appears to relish in its eye-winking cheesiness,” Idolator further notes.

See for yourself just how beautiful “Bound to You” is.
