Should one lend an ear to ongoing rumors, Christina Aguilera can’t simply catch a break: after several of the songs that made the cut on her upcoming album made their way online, the single she released failed to burn up the charts and she canceled her upcoming tour, her entire “Bionic” album has leaked online. As of now, it’s still available for download, but it won’t remain so for long – the official release date is June 8.

So far, neither Aguilera’s management nor her record label has commented in any way on the leak, but chances are the approach will be similar to the one both had when the songs leaked separately: namely, they may pull “Bionic” down and not make any comment as regards the leak. Still, since we’re talking here of the entire album leaked in high quality, at least some minor changes may occur with the release schedule, word on the street has it, in that it could be pushed back to allow Christina time to add new, unheard material on it.

Reaction to “Bionic” is mixed so far, with fans saying that it’s nothing short of landmark of pop music for being everything but mainstream, thus proving once more that Christina is unlike any other pop artist out there, despite what haters may say. Others, though, see Aguilera’s change in sound with less than kind eyes: gossip blogger Perez Hilton, for instance, says he realized upon first listen the album was definitely much worse than he expected based on what he had already heard from it.

Speaking of bad things that can – and do – happen to Christina, the singer also announced the other day that she would not be embarking on a North American tour as scheduled. Initially announced to kick off in July, the 20-date tour has been postponed indefinitely because Christina had other commitments to her latest movie “Burlesque” and the promotion of “Bionic,” her management told the New York Times yesterday. In postponing the tour, Christina would also have more time to prepare for it and thus keep fans happy, it was also said in the statement.

Sadly, word on the web is that the tour was canceled because of very poor ticket sales: not only were tickets overpriced, but there was also very little demand from the fans in the dates. See here for a listen of Christina Aguilera’s “Bionic.” As also noted above, the entire album is available for download – however, fans will probably hold on until it’s officially released.
