Christina Aguilera is really opening up in her interview with People magazine, her first in a very long time. The new mom is getting ready for her return to NBC’s The Voice and the release of a new album, and she’s making her comeback to the spotlight by introducing daughter Summer Rain to the world.

The adorable duo is gracing the cover of this week’s issue of the publication. The magazine has finally revealed more excerpts from the interview and one in particular could be of interest to fans, especially those who were hoping wedding bells were in the future for Christina.

No wedding plans just yet

Either Christina has no immediate wedding plans or she’s just playing coy so she can throw the media off the scent. After all, it’s been done before: you have a celebrity talking about how they’re in no rush to get married, only to find out that they tied the knot a few weeks later.

We’ll see if this applies to her and her beau of nearly 5 years, Matthew Rutler. For the time being, we have only her word: she is in no rush to get married because she and Matt are having the best time of their life as new parents.

Christina is also excited about getting back to work, so what with juggling her new duties as mom and The Voice and working on her new album, she probably has no more time to invest in planning a wedding.

She tells People they haven’t even set a date, despite the fact that they’re engaged for one year. Christina and Matt broke the news to the fans almost in the same breath as the pregnancy announcement, last year on Valentine’s Day.

Summer Rain is now 6 months old.

What is in a name, after all?

Come to think of it, Christina continues, how can a piece of paper change anything about her life, since she and Matt are already a family?

“Our love is secure enough that we don't need a wedding to prove our love or commitment,” she says. “We are enjoying our daughter, our family and our work for now.”

Apparently, they just moved together in a new house, which also accommodates Max, Christina’s son with ex-husband Jordan Bratman, a famous music producer. In a previous interview, the diva compared her eldest to a fussy grandma in the way he took care of baby Summer.

So, if you’re one of the millions of Aguilera fans and were hoping to see her walk down the aisle again, it’s probably best to save your breath, because it’s not happening just yet.
