Summer is 6 months old, “literally like an angel” from day 1

Christina Aguilera has been staying out of the spotlight since she announced she was pregnant with her second child, and her first with fiancé Matthew Rutler, almost one year ago. The two welcomed a daughter last year, who they named Summer Rain - and she is ready to make her public debut at long last.

This week’s issue of People Magazine brings the first photos of the 6-month-old child, along with an interview from the pop diva, who is now looking at making her comeback in the spotlight by reprising her seat on The Voice and releasing a new album.

Mommy guilt

The publication is yet to reveal the full interview, but it did put out excerpts and the first pic of Summer Rain, the one used for the cover. The tot is shown looking straight into the camera with piercing blue eyes just like her mommy’s, while Christina lovingly places a kiss on her cheek.

The bond between the two, the singer reveals for the magazine, was instant and absolutely like nothing she’d ever experienced before. Christina has a son with ex-husband Jordan Bratman, Max, who lives with her.

She says seeing Summer right after birth rendered her “speechless” because she was “literally like an angel,” calm and peaceful and spreading only positive vibes towards her. Their bond has only been getting stronger since then.

So naturally, now that Christina is going back to work, she’s experiencing what is commonly known as “mommy guilt.”

“It’s definitely not easy juggling work and motherhood, as being a parent is a full-time job within itself,” she explains. “It’s hard to know you won’t have all the right answers at the right times. And ‘mom guilt’ is the worst thing ever. But you have to surrender and let go, knowing you’re doing your very best and no one loves them, or wants what’s best for them more than you.”

Her two children are her main focus, though, she adds.

An exciting year for Aguilera

The excerpts released by People don’t mention anything about Christina’s upcoming album, but she admitted in another recent interview that it should drop later this year.

What with her return to The Voice and working on new music, which she will have to promote more intensely as the release date draws near, no wonder she’s feeling “mommy guilt” for being away from home too much.

On the other hand, that’s amazing news for her fans, the same fans who didn’t lose hope when her two most recent releases, “Bionic” (2010) and “Lotus” (2012), were received with lukewarm reviews by critics and dubbed “flops” by the media.

Christina promises a new sound that will reflect this new stage in her life, but also surprising collaborations, like the one with Pharrell Williams.

It wouldn’t be too far-fetched to expect a live performance of one of the new songs on the upcoming season of The Voice.
