14 DAY TRIAL // Christian Slater is officially off the market. The actor married his girlfriend Brittany Lopez on Monday, as they had stopped by the courthouse to file for a marriage license. People magazine confirms the happy news.
Christian and Brittany were engaged earlier this year, with the handsome actor breaking the news on an appearance on Jimmy Fallon. He didn’t say then, nor later, when they were thinking of getting married, so his fans just assumed that it would be a low-profile affair.
However, we assume no one imagined, not even the newlyweds, that it would be this low-profile.
“The actor, 44, and his girlfriend of three years, Brittany Lopez, tied the knot during an impromptu ceremony Monday at the courthouse in Coral Gables, Fla., Slater's rep confirms. The pair celebrated their engagement this summer with family and friends and had originally planned to have a small ceremony later in the year,” People magazine reports.
“On Monday, they went to the Coral Gables District Court to get their marriage license and spontaneously decided to get married. Afterwards, the newlyweds had a court clerk snap a photo of them,” adds the magazine.
The photo has also been attached to this article: as you can see, it shows the two sharing a passionate kiss, but barely able to stop grinning. They’re wearing street, casual clothes so it seems that Slater’s rep’s story that the whole thing was “spontaneous” checks out.
Christian and Brittany live together in Miami, Florida but he’s also spending a lot of time in Chicago, where he’s shooting for his show “Mind Games.”
This is his second marriage, as he was married to Ryan Haddon between 2000 and 2007, with whom he has two children. The relationship imploded when she attacked him and slashed his neck open with a piece of broken glass in a very violent altercation. They separated shortly afterwards.
Some time later, Slater said in an interview he was still in love with his “Heathers” co-star Winona Ryder.
