They are meant to raise funds for the English National Ballet

Here’s a challenge for the most daring fashionista out there: Christian Louboutin has designed one pair of heels inspired by ballet shoes. The 8-inch creation differs from the ballet shoe in that it offers support for the heel.

As LDN Fashion notes, the ballerina-inspired shoes are so high and “steep” that only a professional ballet dancer could actually wear them without running the risk of coming to serious bodily harm because of them.

They’re covered in Swarovski crystals and come with the trademark Louboutin red sole – and they’ve already found their owner, as they went up on auction for charity, says the same publication.

“Christian Louboutin, the man behind the cult footwear brand worn by the rich and famous, has designed a pair of 8-inch high, Swarovski encrusted, red soled ballet pumps, set to go on auction to raise funds for the English National Ballet,” the e-zine notes.

They are Louboutin’s highest heels so far, which, again, confirms what we said before about how only a professional ballerina could actually dare to wear them.

“Designed with the ballerinas in mind, the super thin spike heel is one that only the most professional dancers would be able to wear with ease,” LDN Fashion says.

Asked how he came up with the idea for his latest creation, he says he wanted to bring women as closer to divinity as possible.

“The heel makes dancers closer than any other women to the sky, closer to heaven!” he said.

His design, along with offerings from other world renowned designers, was included in what is known as The Summer Party Silent Auction, which aims to raise funds for the English National Ballet so that they won’t have to cut down on staff and touring dates.

No word yet on who bought the incredibly high and impossible to wear shoes, though some jokes circulating online say Lady Gaga probably took the auction as a dare and bid on them as well.
