It's been a busy couple of years for Chris Evans who made his fame in Hollywood by portraying some of our favorite superheroes such as Fantastic Fours, the Human Torch, and everyone's source of patriotism, Captain America.

But now, the 32-year-old actor is thinking of hanging his superhero costume and acting cape for a while and focusing on other projects. In an interview with Glamour Magazine, Evans expressed his wish for an acting hiatus after completing his current contract with Marvel.

“I think when I'm done with this Marvel contract, I'll take a little break from acting,” the actor confessed, and motivated his choice by pointing out that “With acting, you're one piece in a very big puzzle. It's like you helped buy a gift but you don't know what the gift is, so you come back and see the movie. Sometimes it's nice, sometimes it's tragic.”

In trying to expand his creative horizons, Evans also dabbed with some directorial work and he offered some information on that process “This process, you're involved in every single decision. If I hadn't done it, I'd be really kicking myself. At the time, it was a daunting task for a number of reasons, but in hindsight it was the right move.”

When asked about his personal feelings of the good ol' Cap, Evans revealed that he originally turned down the role that now seems to fit him like a glove. In his vision, Captain America “doesn't have demons. He's not Batman, he doesn't struggle with inner turmoil. The nature of this character is that he puts himself last and helps the common good.”

This was the reason why Chris was a bit apprehensive to step into his boots “he could easily slip into a world of boredom. The blessing and curse of Captain America is that he doesn't have that fancy an ability. He doesn't live in another world, or turn green. He doesn't have bells and whistles, he doesn't shoot missiles. He punches and kicks.”

Later this month you'll be seeing Chris on screen again as he reprises his role of America's first superhero, Captain America, in his latest adventure called “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and after that, he's supposed to again pick up the Vibranium shield for the second part of the “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

From the looks of things, Evans is a bit worn out by the big budget productions he's been starring in and wants a bit of time out to focus on other projects. This is definitely bad news for fans that were growing fond of the lovable Captain, but don't worry, Marvel has plenty of other projects lined up to keep your superhero needs satisfied in the coming years.
