Singer poses with bloodied Jean Paul Gaultier, puts his foot in it

In the aftermath of the Rihanna incident, almost a year ago, Chris Brown reportedly hired a PR firm that specialized in crisis situations to help him do something about his image. After all, it was said at the time, he couldn’t have people thinking of him as of a “girlfriend beater.” Judging by the latest photo surfaced online, Brown and said PR firm have parted ways, as E! Online can confirm.

Though the intent behind it might not have been to insult (in fact, it most certainly wasn’t, some say), Chris Brown committed a huge public misstep by posing with French designer Jean Paul Gaultier, all bloodied and bruised. Brown had nothing to do with that, though, as the designer was in full makeup for his own fashion show, which also featured bloodied models as the main theme. Still, the association of the two in front of a camera can’t but be unfortunate, it is being said.

“Chris Brown has been hanging out at the runway shows during Paris Fashion Week. Seems harmless enough, right? The R&B singer who had that whole nasty thing with Rihanna made a wise choice when he decided to see Jean Paul Gaultier’s presentation. He’s an iconic couture designer after all, and his shows are notoriously clever,” E! Online begins by saying.

However, there was one thing that went terribly wrong and that Brown should have anticipated: what the image of him next to someone covered in blood and bruises would do for the public and to his image. “So clever, in fact, that Gaultier got in on the action, covering his face with makeup to look like blood and bruises in order to match his boxing-themed collection. But then Brown had to go and pose for pictures with him. Awkward!” E! writes.

As it happens, this media outlet is not the only one to think those two posing together are “awkward” at best. TMZ calls the photo “bloody tasteless,” while New York Magazine’s The Cut calls it “epically awkward.” To say that some things are not so easily forgotten is perhaps an understatement at this point. Then again, it could very all be that people are reading too much into this.
