Things are finally beginning to look up for troubled singer Chris Brown, who seems to be unable to keep his violent temper in check. Despite the fact that he was sentenced to 131 days in jail at the beginning of last month, today the judges told the singer that he could go home.

TMZ reports that the singer was let go around midnight, after he had served 108 days of his sentence. This move comes as a shock since the singer had been sentenced to a year in jail. The explanation for his early release is the fact that he was credited with doing time when he was in rehab.

That means that the judges saw fit to consider the 116 days he spent in rehab as part of his punishment and rehabilitation. Think of it as time already served a term that is commonly used in the court of law. That way, Brown extended considerably the 59 days he has done in jail and earned himself an early ticket to freedom.

Everything was going smoothly for Brown at the beginning of the year: he was on his way to getting better, reports from rehab looked promising and experts spoke that the treatment was working, with the singer responding to medication and other forms of treatment.

Judges smiled at him sympathetically as people in charge of his rehabilitation claimed that he was showing complete collaboration and even signs of improvement. But then, a couple of months ago, Brown's volcanic temper blew up and he violated the rules of the rehab center.

Chris was shocked to find out that expulsion from rehab meant he went straight to jail. Deputies showed up promptly at the rehab center and whisked him off to the county jail. Another nasty part of his jail stint was that he had to travel via “Con Air,” an air transport specifically destined for inmates, as his trials carried him from Los Angeles to Washington, where he had a different assault case pending.

His current jail stint was for his infamous assault on singer Rihanna. Next, he will have to show up in court for the incident in which he allegedly punched a man in the face outside the W Hotel in Washington last autumn.

Prosecutors claimed that the singer and his bodyguard went off on a bystander whom they thought was “photobombing” Brown who was busy at the time taking his picture with some fans. The gesture earned the man a beating and now Brown is going to have to answer for his actions, which have been classified as misdemeanor assault. Also, he's still got 800 hours of community service left from his previous sentence.
