Chris Brown is still on probation after he was found guilty of battery in the 2009 Rihanna case, so this might turn out very badly for him: he was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning on felony assault charges.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Brown was in Washington DC for work and that the altercation took place outside a hotel close to where he’d done a gig. It is not yet known what prompted it, but police have confirmed that Brown’s bodyguard was also involved.

“The R&B singer and his bodyguard Christopher Hollosy were involved in a fight with another man outside the W Hotel just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday, the Washington Metropolitan Police Department said,” the LA Times writes.

“Brown, 24, and Hollosy were taken into custody, police spokesman Anthony Clay told The Times. The man who allegedly angered Brown was transported to an area hospital for his injuries, police said,” the report adds.

Brown and Hollosy will be arraigned today, Monday, October 28, 2013 and will be kept in police custody until this time. A rep for the singer would not comment on the arrest at the time word of it got out in the media.

The condition of the alleged victim is unknown, but more details are expected to emerge today.

Since 2009, Chris has been getting himself into some trouble with the law, but this is the first time that he gets himself arrested. He was also involved in two separate fights with singer Drake, once in a parking lot outside a recording studio and once in a night club, allegedly over Rihanna.

Earlier this year, Brown was accused of “faking” his community service hours, for which reason he was sentenced to more.

If he’s found guilty of assault, he could go to jail for a while, considering his track record.
