Guys looking to be crowned the world's manliest man would do best to burn their gym membership, head to the nearest tool shop, and buy themselves an axe.

Apparently, men who spend loads of time chopping wood have higher testosterone levels than those who don't.

Interestingly enough, their bodies produce more testosterone than the bodies of most professional athletes, regardless of how much time the latter spend training and playing a particular sport.

Researchers theorize this is because chopping wood is much more physically demanding than competitive sports and other similar activities, sources say.

The researchers base their claims on data collected while analyzing the saliva of forager-farmers living in central Bolivia.

Whenever they chop wood for about an hour, these men experience a 48% increase in their testosterone levels.

By comparison, a man who plays soccer for about an hour only ups his testosterone levels by about 31%.
