Apple has just launched the new line of MacBooks, a laptop line perfect for a mobile lifestyle. The starting price is $1099, which I personally consider a very good price we take into consideration what exactly a MacBook can do.

Let's see MacBook's technical specifications. First of all, it comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo running at 2 or 2.16GHz, with 4MB of level two cache, 667MHz front side bus and a memory of 1GB packed into two 512MB SO-DIMMs at PC2-5300. The maximum amount of memory is 2GB. For storage we are looking at a range from 80Gb to 160GB SATA hard disks, spinning at 5400 rpms, an optional 120GB or 200Gb drive is also available. When it comes to optical drives, users have several options like the 24X slot-loading combo drive or 8X slot-loading SuperDrive.

Power is provided by a 55Wh battery based on Lithium, with integrated charge indicator and an estimated life of six hours. A 60W power adapter is provided for recharging. The display component is made up of a 13.3 inch wide screen with support for all standard and custom resolutions. Integrated graphics are present, the Intel GMA 950 processor shares 64 video memory and a built-in camera is also present. All standard outputs are supported. For communications the MacBook uses a built-in 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet, an AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth module.

The audio component of the MacBook is represented by stereo speakers, omnidirectional microphone, combined optical digital audio output for headphones and a "line in" adapter. A full sized keyboard is supported with 78 standard keys, 12 function keys and 4 arrow keys. A solid-state trackpad is used for cursor control. The peripheral connectors provided are one FireWire 400 and two USB 2.0 ports.

In both bright white or sleek black, the new MacBook packs a big punch thanks to its high memory support, plenty of storage and rich connectivity options. The SuperDrive, found as standard equipment on all 2.16GHz models lets users burn DVDs faster and use the double-layer medias.
