It is a well-known fact that breast milk is best when it comes to feeding your baby, but now more and more moms are trying to squeeze all the benefits of their maternal milk. We have seen controversial dishes made with this special secret ingredient, from milkshakes to cheese and butter, but now a Chinese mother has invented a new soap made from breast milk.

The crafty mom decided to put her milk to good use after her baby son refused to drink it, and claims that the innovative soap cures nappy rash. When she realized her son couldn't be breastfed, the unnamed mother decided to make soap from her milk so that the baby would still get some of the benefits generated by the milk's healing properties.

But that's not all, as she even set up a business selling the unusual product on Chinese marketplace website Taobao after seeing that her soap became popular among family and friends.

According to the Mirror, the creative mom gave her soaps different shapes, likes rabbits, tortoises, teddies and flowers, and advertises the good as a great beauty product able to make an adult's skin smoother and healthier and to prevent nappy rash on babies.

A quick search through the Chinese sale website reveals that she is not the only mother who chose to use her breast milk to create soap instead of wasting it. A seller even claims to have sold over 300 bars already.

However, when reports first surfaced about the soap bars being sold online, doctors advised against purchasing the product, saying that the milk could pass on viruses if the mother has a yeast infection.

“If affected milk is drunk or used to wash hands, viruses in the milk can enter the human body through abraded skin in the intestines or in the hands,” Jiang Huiyun, a chief physician at Guangxi Hospital, explained.

Experts also warn that the active matter contained in the milk is destroyed in the soap-making process, so there are few nutrients left.

Milk is touted as an ideal ingredient for skin care products because it contains essential substances that nourish the skin, and breast milk also contains healthy substances, like fats, vitamins and proteins. Moreover, medical studies have shown that breast milk prevents the baby from developing common skin conditions.

However, sharing breast milk is not considered completely safe unless it has been thoroughly examined. That's why, keeping your breast milk soap in the family would be a good idea.
