Chinese lawmaker Bo Guangxin, who also happens to be the chairman of the Jilin Forestry Industry Group, is nothing if not convinced that the people living in China would do best to take up the habit of carrying and using their own tableware.

As Bo Guangxin explains, a whopping 80 billion pairs of chopsticks are produced and most likely used in this part of the world on a yearly basis, The Times of India says.

Since these chopsticks are made from wood, it need not come as such a big surprise that quite a lot of trees get destroyed in the process.

To make matters even worse, several reports have shown that some of the wood used in China comes from illegal sources.

“We must change our consumption habits and encourage people to carry their own tableware,” this Chinese lawmaker allegedly told other delegates present at the country's annual parliament session.
