Just recently, we reported on how China and Africa were taking into consideration the possibility of aiding one-another as far as sustainable development and environmental protection are concerned.

Back then, we also explained that the World Wildlife Fund wishes that the collaboration between these two countries proved to be as fruitful as possible, but that such an outcome requires that said nations do their best in trying to diminish their ecological footprint.

It now seems that, as a result of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Ministerial Conference, China has agreed to offer Africa as much as $20 billion (€16.6 Billion).

This money, which of course need be treated as a loan, are to go in developing and implementing various projects whose end goal is that of aiding African countries push for sustainable development.

More precisely, as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) reports, the money will be invested in developing African infrastructure, agriculture and local industries.

As Laurent Some from WWF explains, “The challenge now is to translate these commitments into concrete projects that will deliver social and environmental benefits and therefore sustainable development for all.”

One other WWF representative, Li Lin, makes a point of how, “We hope that China will become a driver for sustainable development in Africa, based in transfer of clean technologies and best practices.”

The same source informs us that, much to the joy of green-heads worldwide, China also expressed its desire to lend a helping hand in protecting Africa's forest areas, which now face serious threats as a result of improper management.

With the African Congo Basin being one of the largest natural ecosystems in the world, it is good news indeed that efforts will be made to help preserve its biodiversity.

As far as we are concerned, China need be congratulated for its decision to help boost Africa's economy and preserve wildlife, all in the same time.
