The daredevil jumped onto a rescue cushion and survived

A man trying to make his way 9m (30ft) in the air on power lines is rescued in China, not before offering bystanders a spectacle which they are probably not going to forget soon.

The video, relayed by Sky News, starts off once the unidentified man is already up there, and you can see rescue teams trying to get to him and cutting off the power in that section.

He holds on to a set of cables for a while, then falls onto those underneath him as crowds sigh, thinking this is the end of him.

It doesn't take long for him to let go completely, falling onto a rescue air cushion set up by firefighters.

Asked why he climbed on the cables after the incident, he answered that he was drunk, adding that he was having a really bad day.
