It has certainly been a while since Chieftec launched a new product, but the company has just announced the its Nitro 88+ series of power supply units, that were presented during the CeBIT 2011 fair, have now become available and range in power from 650W to 1000W.

The new series was designed in order to cater to the needs of users who are looking for a highly efficient and powerful PSU that also has a nice price/performance ratio and modular design.

As a result, all the models that were includes in this series come with 80PLUS Silver certification which means that their efficiency won't drop below 85% even when the system features a power draw as low as 20% of the unit's capacity.

Starting with the entry-level Nitro 88+ model, this is called the SPS-650C and just as its name implies can deliver 650W of total power while the two 12V rails combined can provide up to 52A of current to the system.

This comes with two 8-pin PCIe connectors as well as with six SATA and four Molex modular cables.

Next in line is the SPS-750C that has a maximum power output of 750W, up to 720W are available on the two 12V rails, and packs no less than four 8-pin PCIe plugs, eight SATA connectors and four Molex plugs.

The same number of power plugs is also supported by the SPS-850C, but Chieftec's 850W PSU can provide up to 68A via the two 12V rails available.

Finally, the most impressive model in Chieftec's arsenal is the SPS-1000C that is rated at 1KW and that can deliver up to 80A (960W) on its two 12V rails.

All the Nitro 88+ power supply units are cooled by a 140mm fan that has a noise rating of 24dBa.

The new Chieftec PSUs are already available and prices range from 112€, for the 650W model, to 199€ for the high-end 1KW model. (via HardwareLuxx)
