14 DAY TRIAL // After reportedly scoring a new contract as judge on The X Factor worth a whopping £1.2 million, British singer, television personality and WAG extraordinaire Cheryl Cole can now tell husband Ashley Cole “From Cheryl, with love” in style. The diminutive star shed no less than £14,000 on a highly customized Mini Hummer to use in the garden of their Surrey mansion, the Daily Mail informs.
Ashley had been raving for one such vehicle ever since he saw one at one of his friends’ house and, since Cheryl is about to embark on another lucrative collaboration with the network producing the successful television program, she probably considered this the best moment to show him how much she loved him, the tab says. Consequently, she bought the Mini Hummer and then invested in it another £5,000 to have it customized to her will, including gold-plated hubcaps, a state-of-the-art Sony sound system, black leather upholstery and, probably the most outrageous of the lot, having their initials (AC and CC) embroidered in Swarovski crystals in the headrests.
“Cheryl bought the buggy as a present for Ashley. It’s completely over the top, but Ashley and Cheryl love it. It’s Ashley’s pride and joy. One of their staff is instructed to make sure the hubcaps are always gleaming and the buggy is sparkling clean. There’s even space for Ashley’s golf clubs at the back.” An unnamed but reportedly reliable source is telling the Mail.
Of course, Cheryl and Ashley Cole are not the only celebrity couples to own a Mini Hummer, blinged out or not. The Beckhams, Rupert Grint of the “Harry Potter” fame, and members of the royal families in Bahrain and Dubai also move around their large estates in Mini Hummers. This version, unlike the full-size one, is more environmentally friendly, running on electricity and fitting better into the whole green approach, as the maker has often stressed.
For Ashley and Cheryl, though, the new acquisition is all about fun. “Ashley kept telling Cheryl he wanted one after his friend John Terry, the Chelsea captain, bought one and couldn’t stop raving about it. Ashley loves his motors and thought the Mini Hummer would be the perfect way to get around the grounds of their estate so Cheryl decided to surprise him and treat him to one. It’s a lot of fun and a bit of a statement.” the same source explains for the Daily Mail.
