At the London premiere of “Burlesque” the other day, Cher looked as impeccable as always. Though 64 years old, she rocked a red wig and a bold outfit like no other – if only it weren’t for the sticky tape visible on her face.

Actresses have long been using tape to smoothen out wrinkles in the eye area or sagging skin on the neck – it’s one of Hollywood’s worst kept beauty secrets.

The practice was started with soap opera stars who didn’t have either the money or the time to get facelifts – so they showed their creative side by using sticky tape that they hid carefully in their hairline and under makeup.

Perhaps the same was the intent behind Cher’s look the other night. Not that the singer and actress is a stranger to plastic surgery, for that matter, but perhaps she needed a quick fix, as MSN also notes.

“Cher’s face has been nipped and tucked so much, we’re surprised she has any skin left – but the 64-year-old reveals that she needs a little extra help on special occasions – from sticky tape!” the e-zine gushes.

“Looking flawless at the London premiere of new film Burlesque, a gust of wind gave away her age-defying secret. Special tape has been used to tighten jawlines and smooth face wrinkles on the red carpet for decades,” MSN further writes.

While MSN admits that, regardless of the sticky tape situation, Cher still looks quite amazing (which 64-year-old wouldn’t kill to look like her?), the Daily Mail (see photos here) goes to extreme lengths to prove that the star owes her smooth complexion to the tape – and only the tape.

After posting several pics of Cher with the tape showing, the British tab also includes a few shots of her leaving her hotel the night after the premiere night.

Cher has her makeup on yet the brutal day light is making all her imperfections and wrinkles be many times more visible. So the Mail concludes that Cher “didn’t look quite so camera-ready - or so youthful.”
