For many days now, speculation has been saying that the favorite to win the current season of X Factor, Cher Lloyd, was not prepared to make it on the show. During the judges stage, she showed that she really wasn’t – yet still made it through.

The Daily Mail informs – and the video embedded at the end of the article can confirm – that Cher broke down in tears while performing for her “mentor” Cheryl Cole and will.i.am, and was barely able to sing a note.

Two separate times the young singer tried to prove she had the “x factor” and two separate times she cut short and burst into tears.

In the end, she whispered “I am done now, I am done, I’m sorry” and walked out, convinced she’d just blown her chances of making it through to the next round, into the final 12.

For the past days, Cher has also been battling a nasty sore infection which left her quite unable to sing – so it wasn’t just nerves that got to her, though that too contributed greatly to her breakdown, it is being said.

To her surprise, Cheryl decided to give her another try and she made it into the final 12, which means fans will see her next in the live stage of the show.

“When I go back to the first time I ever saw you perform I instantly thought you were fantastic, I was really excited to see you again and I get here yesterday and it’s like you’ve fallen apart and you weren’t the girl that I’d seen before,” Cheryl told Cher before announcing the big news.

Still, even if she hardly lived up to expectations, Cher still get her shot at stardom and, most importantly, at proving herself in front of the judges and Cheryl.

“It is one of the hardest decisions I can genuinely say I’ve made in the three series that I’ve done, because my heart and my head are pulling in completely different directions,” Cheryl further told her.

As expected, the decision did ruffle some feathers, as the people at home took to dedicated forums to say Cheryl should have chosen her favorites based on the recent performance not preferences.

Plus, Cher doesn’t seem prepared (emotionally) for this type of competition, if she can’t handle her emotions enough to perform for the camera.

“This young girl seems so emotionally fragile. It really did make for uncomfortable viewing,” one commenter says.

“I don’t think Cher is ready for all this. I feel she is not emotionally strong enough and doesn’t have the self-confidence to enter a music career. She should have given it a few years, matured a bit, then entered,” another states.

“She wasn’t very good but is clearly going to sail through because she is Cheryl’s pet,” says another, while others too believe Cher is being singled out for all the wrong reasons – which, of course, is unfair to the other contestants.
