Two cheetahs are now doing their best to learn what football is all about, not because they're thinking about following in David Beckham's footsteps but because they hope that whatever skills they develop while playing this game will help them survive in the wild.

Sources report that the two cheetahs have been raised by Kim and Hein Schoeman in their home in South Africa.

The couple took the animals under their care after their mother failed to produce enough milk to provide for all of its four cubs, and are now trying to teach them hunting techniques.

“We started off by developing the skills of chasing, catching and holding, those three movements are probably the most important.”

“Regardless of their speed, without having the ability to catch and hold their prey, their hunt would be for nothing,” Hein explains.

The cheetahs grew up alongside Kim and Hein's two children, Malan and Kayla, but will soon have to bid them farewell.

Thus, it seems that the cheetahs will be released in their natural habitats in about 18 months' time.
