A fact well known by virtually all photographers is that, when it comes to snapping quality photographs, it’s very important what kind of glass you’re going to put in front of it. However, that’s not all it takes, of course, and the camera body also plays a virtual role in determining the final output.

And to make things easier for us, DxOMark has published a series of articles that show us which are the best lenses to be used with the Nikon D800E.

DxOMark performed several tests with a wide range of lenses, but interestingly enough some of them performed significantly better on the D800E when compared to the almost identical D800.

The website also looked into the lenses capable of delivering the best sharpness levels with the items being ranked by “optical metric scores.”

DxOMark then went on to rank the glass using their own proprietary scoring system and you can see the results below.

However, NikonRumors managed to blend the two tests and came up with four lists, each covering a category and their top five lens pieces.

The categories are wide-angle prime, wide-angle zoom, standard & short, telephoto prime and telephoto primes & zoom lenses.

So, owners of the Nikon D800E can take a look at this chart to see which lens is better suited for them, based on the goals they’re trying to achieve with their camera.
