Charlie Sheen got in trouble with authorities again, as he and his wife Brooke Mueller were involved in a violent domestic dispute on Christmas morning that saw the actor thrown in jail and charged with several counts. E! Online has now learned that not only was alcohol a factor in the dispute, on both sides, but that Sheen also threatened to kill Brooke with a knife, though confirmation for that is still pending.

The dispute began as the two drank a glass too many, with both having a history of alcohol abuse. Reports say that, when she called 911, Mueller was legally inebriated, as also was her husband when police arrived at the scene to detain him. He was taken to jail, charged and then set free on a $8,500 bail. The “Two and a Half Men” star is to appear in court in February to answer the charges.

“A ‘weapon of some sort’ had been involved. Now the same source tells E! News the weapon present in Sheen’s domestic dispute, and the cause of his felony menacing charges, was a knife. During the reported domestic dispute between Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller, the ‘Two and a Half Men’ star allegedly threatened his better half with a knife in the living room of her Aspen rental home,” E! writes.

Ironically enough, the two are not considering divorce, despite getting into such heated arguments that require police intervention to quiet down. A rep for Sheen confirms this for the US press saying that, on the contrary, the couple is to seek counseling for their marital problems, which were undoubtedly aggravated by alcohol consumption, which, in turn, should have been off-limits for the both of them.

“It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion,” a statement from camp Sheen reads. “I have spoken to all parties concerned. There are no plans for divorce. They are both deeply upset about what happened and are trying to work things out amicably. They both want to get away from all the sensationalism surrounding what happened and quietly resolve things,” the rep further explains.

Charlie Sheen has been charged with a class-four felony charge of second-degree assault, a class-five felony charge of menacing, and a misdemeanor count of “criminal mischief,” reports say. Police are also investigating the possibility of Mueller making a false alarm call, in which case she will be prosecuted.
