In April 2009, music Producer and mogul Phil Spector, known for his collaborations with the biggest names in the music industry ever, was found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced to 19 years in jail. Spector began his sentence shortly after being served with it, but wife Rachelle is now telling the media inmates are making undesired contact with him, as The Guardian can confirm.

One of these inmates is mass murderer and cult leader Charles Manson, one of the most legendary serial killers of modern times. Apparently, Rachelle says in a recent interview, Manson is interested in reviving his music career after so many years on hiatus, and he seems to think Spector might be just the right person to do that. In order to convince him, Manson has even wrote Spector a letter, the wife further explains.

“Convicted cult leader Charles Manson has reached out to convicted music producer Phil Spector, suggesting that the two jailbirds collaborate on pop songs. Both men are serving life sentences in central California's Corcoran State Prison. Manson contacted Spector shortly after the producer arrived, dispatching a guard with a note. ‘[Manson] said he wanted him to come over to his [cell],’ Spector’s wife, Rachelle, told the New York Post. ‘He said he considers Philip the greatest producer who ever lived. It was creepy. Philip didn’t respond.’” The Guardian writes.

As far-fetched as the idea that Manson would reach out to Spector asking for help to launch a pop career might seem, one must not forget that he and his clan also made a name for themselves as a music group, the aforementioned publication points out. Still, even though, at the moment, Spector has little to no alternatives for something to keep him busy, strictly musically speaking, it seems a Mason team-up is actually the last thing he’d want.

“I think Manson wants to glean some musical advice from Phil, who was a 60s music god with his ‘Wall of Sound.’ Phil’s like, ‘I used to pick up the phone and it was John Lennon or Celine Dion or Tina Turner, and now Charles Manson is trying to get a hold of me!’” Hal Lifson, Spector’s publicist, tells the media.
