NASA Administrator Charles Bolden announced recently that he would be taking part in the ceremony to inaugurate the Space Shuttle Pavilion. The permanent exhibit will be opened this Thursday, July 19, on New York City's Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.

The entire museum is located aboard a decommissioned World War II aircraft carrier, and is currently the permanent home of test orbiter Enterprise. The vehicle was previously housed at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, but the spot is currently occupied by shuttle Discovery.

The inauguration ceremony dedicated to the opening of an exhibition space specifically dedicated to Enterprise will begin at 11 am EDT (1500 GMT) tomorrow, and will take place on Intrepid’s Flight Deck.

“Immediately following the ceremony, officials will participate in a ribbon cutting in front of the pavilion, officially marking the opening of Enterprise to the public,” NASA says in a press release.
