Oddly enough, word has it the sandwich was surprisingly well preserved when it was found

Doctors have been nagging us about how disastrous it is to skip meals for years. If they are right, then the person who postponed their midday sandwich by about 118 years must be in for some really big trouble.

Not to beat about the bush, media reports say that, not too long ago, a sandwich believed to be over one century old was discovered inside a church organ in Lancashire, UK.

According to Metro, the sandwich was discovered by Kathy Yates, the organist at Padiham Road Methodist Church. When the woman came across it, it was wrapped in a 1896 copy of a local newspaper.

Oddly enough, word has it the sandwich looked almost good enough to eat (emphasis on “almost”) when Kathy Yates came across it. However, chances are that, now that it was removed from its wrapper, it might soon perish.

“It must have been the remains of a lunch for the organ-fitters who I imagine sat down for a break. I can just picture them sat reading the paper with their sandwich and perhaps a large hunk of cheese,” church property Peter Yates says.

Interestingly enough, the sandwich was only discovered because the church organ was being dismantled in order to be sold for parts. Otherwise, it would have probably remained hidden for many years to come.
