Locate your contacts, on the move, in real time

A PDF news release posted over at Cellflare’s website reveals that the company’s first iPhone app has just been approved in the iTunes App Store, where it is available for free download onto any iPhone model running iPhone OS 3.0 or later. The navigation app uses your iPhone’s GPS system to locate you and your contacts on the move.

In the report, media Spokesperson Sarah Thistle is cited as saying that, “[...] This is great news for Cellflare. For any mobile application developer to have Apple interested in their application is an honour.” Thistle also explains that Cellflare has taken handheld tracking technology to a one-size-fits-all level that can provide information based on minute-by-minute locations.

The report adds that the timing couldn’t have been better for Cellflare’s release, “with the boom in social networking, students heading back to school and the desire for fast and accurate information on the go.” Cellflare claims that, “People are waiting intently for the next technological advance that can help make their lives easier,” and its app should do just that, the report suggests.

Speaking of which, the Cellflare application uses an iPhone's GPS system to locate the user and their contacts on the move. This is done in real time using the LBS technology, the company reveals. As such, Cellflare for iPhone is touted as a brand-new mobile app that “allows you to stay visually connected with people and business on the move [and] in real time.” The piece of software is also available for Blackberry and Windows Mobile users.

The company behind this young app also claims that installing Cellflare onto your device is easy. And it is... on the iPhone. Blackberry users and users of a Windows Mobile-enabled device have as many as six steps to follow in order to download and use the tracking software. For iPhone users, the App Store skips three of the steps required for download and installation.

However, even Apple handset owners have to enter their phone number and license key to activate the program, upon its initial launch. Users must enter the same phone number they used to activate their Cellflare account, and then their license key, which can be found on their Profile Manager page.

Lastly (yes, there’s more), you may be prompted to allow Cellflare to access your cellular data network and/or your GPS location. The developer says you should select “Always allow” for both, so you can use the app.
