The third Celkon smartphone in the Rahman series has just been announced in India and seems to be the cheapest. The AR40 RahmanIshq will soon be available in India via major retailers for only Rs 5,999 outright, which is about $95 or €70.

Celkon launched earlier this month two affordable Android phones in the same series, the AR45 and AR50. Both are already available for purchase in India and soon, the AR40 will go on sale as well.

Unlike the previous handsets, Celkon AR40 RahmanIshq sports a slightly smaller 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display. However, as AndroidOS points out, the smartphone will ship with the same Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

For those unfamiliar, both Celkon AR45 and AR50 pack 4.5-inch displays. Other than that, all three smartphones are almost similar.

Celkon AR40 RahmanIsq is equipped with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, probably provided by MediaTek, but there are no details on the amount of RAM and internal memory for the moment.

It also offers dual-SIM support, a 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera and a VGA front-facing camera for video calls. 3G connectivity is included as well, along with a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

As expected, the smartphone comes with exclusive tunes composed by AR Rahman that are included in the previous RahmanIshq handsets as well.

More Celkon smartphones in the Rahman series are expected to be announced in the following weeks, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.

“We are proud to share that our customers can enjoy the special tune composed for Celkon RahmanIshq series that will be used extensively for the Celkon smartphones. Affordable innovation is the genesis of RahmanIshq. We at Celkon Mobiles would continue to build on our promise to efficiently deliver to our consumers with novelties that directly cater to their needs,” said Y Guru, chairman and managing director, Celkon Mobiles.
