‘Join with the rest of the world in saying goodbye to an amazing innovator’

Launched September 23, 2011 "as a thank you to a man whose work has impacted so many lives", the Steve Jobs Day project hopes to become a true tribute to the visionary’s life and the legacy he leaves behind.

The organizers kicked off their initiative before Jobs had passed away. Now with Jobs gone, they hope to use stevejobsday2011.com to gather as many Steve Jobs fans as possible.

“We admire his work. We've embraced his vision. And we love what he's brought to the world,” say the organizers. “Let's take a day to honor the man himself and say thank you. Everyone around the world is invited to participate — in real life, Facebook, Twitter and here.”

Since Apple will most likely keep you off their green Infinite Loop pastures on October 19, this is probably the closest thing you’ll get to a real celebration of Steve Jobs’ life.

As their quote reads, there are three ways you can join in on the celebration. For an easier understanding, I’m posting the three options in their original form below:

Look Like Steve

Wear a black turtleneck to work. To school. Anywhere and everywhere. (You can even go full Steve and wear blue jeans and tennis shoes.)

Take a photo of yourself in your black turtleneck and post it to Facebook, Twitter and here.

Update your Facebook and Twitter profile photo with you as Steve. Talk About Steve

Tweet or post a Facebook status update about how Steve and his work at Apple have affected your life.

- Favorite products - First Apple product you used/owned - Why you love his work

Be sure to use the hashtag #stevejobsday

Come Back Here

To help experience the event, we'll keep a running tab of everything that's being said, shown and posted.

The Steve Jobs Day organizers also have a couple of links for you to use if you want to share your thoughts with Apple directly or donate to cancer research in Steve Jobs’ memory.
