As surprising as this may sound, the feline pictured above is now quite famous. This is because its owners, Taff and Pam Jones, have taken care of turning it into the star of a new book dubbed “Tales of Nancy Jones.”

If you're wondering why the feline looks less like a celebrity and more like an animal in desperate need of love and affection, here is your answer: this picture was taken shortly after Nancy was rescued from its previous owner.

According to Daily Mail, the latter got terribly upset when the feline scratched it and decided to teach it some discipline by microwaving it for about five seconds.

At the time when it was rescued by RSPCA inspectors, the cat was having trouble breathing and had severe burns on its body.

The cat was treated at the Stubbington Ark rescue center in Hampshire, UK for about nine months, and was eventually adopted by its new family.

“I was looking a the cubicles and this little face was looking out at me. She adopted me, rather than the other way around,” Taff Jones recollects.

“They are still not sure if there is any lasting damage, but she's very affectionate and she is part of our family,” adds Pam, his wife.

Apart from turning the formerly abused kitten into a book character, its owners have agreed to donate part of the money they get from selling “Tales of Nancy Jones” to the Stubbington Ark rescue center.
