Cleveland kidnapping suspect Ariel Castro has been dubbed competent to stand trial after an evaluation to determine whether or not he is mentally ill.

The examination has proved that Castro does not suffer from any mental illness and he is able to stand trial, the AP reports. Judge Michael Russo has ruled that the defendant will be tried.

Prosecutor Saleh Awadallah may be asking for the death penalty in the case during a July 11 hearing. Castro is on trial for kidnapping Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight.

He will also face charges for causing Knight to abort by beating her. As I reported, Castro has father Berry's daughter, which counts as an extra kidnapping charge.

He has been accused on a total of 329 counts and his trial will start on August 5.
