Hack and slash game fans have eagerly awaited Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, as the title actually seemed to deliver a great 3D Castlevania experience, after a few failed attempts and lots of 2D side scrollers.

Sadly, it seems that the game isn't without faults, as lots of players are reporting a massive glitch with the save game system, predominantly on the PlayStation 3 version.

It seems that after a certain amount of time, the game corrupts the save files, and when you boot it up to continue your playthrough, at the load game screen, it says that the save file is corrupted and can't load from it.

As such, players are forced to start the game all over again, a thing that may not have gone so well, especially with those that reached the last few levels.

This problem is even worse as Castlevania: Lords of Shadow only has one save game slot, so if that one is corrupted, there isn't a backup or the option to have multiple save games.

Xbox 360 users are also reporting similar problems, but their game loads the save properly even if it deems it corrupted, unlike the PS3 versions.

Up until now, an official response from the game's publisher, Konami, or its developer, Mercury Steam, hasn't been revealed, but you can clearly guess that they will take this seriously.

Until then, players are advised to only quit when the game has finished saving its checkpoints or any other activity, and to frequently back up their save game data on an USB drive or other portable media.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is the first game from Spanish developer Mercury Steam, which worked on it under the guidance of Kojima Productions, and the first properly received 3D Castlevania title in quite a long time.

It was released last week in North America and Europe, and will be revealed for Japan in the middle of December.
