This winter, stay warm and effortlessly chic

Winter is all about keeping warm, but that shouldn’t necessarily mean it must also equal not being trendy all of a sudden. Being elegant should be a woman’s prerequisite no matter what, and this is why stylists are now urging us to turn our attention towards the somehow forgotten years of the ‘70s and ‘80s by bringing back the cashmere knits.

Be they fingerless, elbow-long gloves, flowing and multi-layered scarves, patterned or quirkily designed sweaters, or stunning day dresses, knits are now back and causing havoc. They’re present everywhere, from the cover of fashion magazines, under such imperative headlines like “A woman’s MUST this season” or “Knits, no woman should live without them,” to the catwalks and on the red carpet.

As of late, knits have stepped down from the glitzy world of fashion to set the pace right here with us. Not only are stylists recommending them for being among the best ways to keep warm on the cold days, but also because of their potential of turning any outfit, no matter how uninspired it might be, into something truly original, filled with the wearer’s personality and, to cap it all off, with just a dash of winterish/holiday-ish feel that goes just perfectly with the season.

Of course, those with a more imaginative and creative side can go for knits, absolutely no holds barred. Cashmere cardigans or knee-long dresses (with or without sleeves), matched with black leggings and dashing round-toe pumps, or cowboy boots, can make for truly exquisite office outfits, stylists are telling us. Checkered or patterned sweaters, as nerdy as they might have once been considered, are now just the thing for a day’s work.

Fancy sweaters with out of the ordinary designs (asymmetry is still the predominant aspect with knits too) can, in turn, do wonders for you on a night out with friends or on a date. Similarly, gloves, caps and scarves also allow for a wide variety of options, so there’s basically no reason, specialists tell us, why we should stick to just plain old black or to the items we used last winter. Because, they also say, this winter is all about letting our imagination run wild.
