Casey Aldridge, the father of Jamie Lynn Spears’ child, was involved in a one-car accident in the early hours of Sunday, when his truck flipped through the air as he lost control of the vehicle. He was the only one of the five people inside to require medical assistance, and is currently under observation at the hospital, TMZ informs.

Aldridge is mostly known for his relationship with teen idol Jamie Lynn Spears, a romance that ended in her getting pregnant at just 16. The two are still together and looking out for their daughter, although not yet married. Luckily, Casey was not seriously hurt in the accident, as a police spokesperson has confirmed for the aforementioned source.

“Louisiana State Troopers tell us three of the five people riding in Casey Aldridge’s truck (they previously told us only four were in the truck) were ejected during the crash – and Casey was one of them. Cops tell us while Casey was heading north on the 606 in Louisiana early this morning [Sunday], he swerved off the right side of the road and into a ditch, then over-corrected his turn back onto the pavement, causing the car to flip. During the flip, 3 people – including Casey – were ejected from the car. The two others who were ejected refused medical treatment at the scene – and as we previously reported, Casey was taken to the Riverside Medical Center in Ferriday, La. due to what cops called ‘moderate injuries’.” TMZ writes.

The police tried to determine whether alcohol had been a factor in the accident, but were unable to do so immediately after the accident. As a matter of fact, officers were not able to speak to Aldridge for about four hours after the crash on account of the fact that he was initially rushed to the emergency room, other reports in the US media have it. Once he was moved to another part of the hospital, Casey was questioned and the police found no proof to substantiate the suspicion that he had been drinking before getting behind the wheel.

Nevertheless, Aldridge has already been charged with careless operation of a motor vehicle (a misdemeanor). The investigation in what caused the accident is still underway, and will presumably continue even after Casey leaves the hospital – which should happen in about three or four days, it has been said.
