Case-mate, a designer of cutting-edge accessories for mobile and electronic devices from Atlanta, has recently announced the release of the first charging pad for the iPhone. The company has been working in the industry of innovative accessories since 2006. Besides the protective role that an usual pad should provide, Hug was designed with a bigger aim – the evolution of wireless power – created to give iPhone users a neat and easy way to charge without cumbersome cords or adaptors.

Hug addresses iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users and is the first product to come out of a partnership with the Wireless Power Consortium also designed according to the specifications of the Consortium.

Among the main features of Hug, the user can find efficient, “smart” charging – they simply slip their iPhone into the Hug case and place it onto the charging pad. When the iPhone has reached a complete charging level, it stops charging. The charging speed is not affected. Hug does the job as well as traditional chargers, yet without the stress of cords and wires, but through a magnetic field to the iPhone in the Hug case.

The Hug case is made up of two components: a two-part, sleek pad, and a charging mat designed with cutting-edge materials. Hug is provided with a shock-absorbing and durable case and a protection screen kit.

The Case-mate Hug is available for the Apple iPhone 3G and Apple iPhone 3GS models and can be purchased directly on the company’s website for $99.99. In the next months, versions for additional mobile devices such as BlackBerry models will be available and Case-mate is working to provide a Hug that will allow the charging of multiple devices simultaneously. Further details are specified on the company’s website.

“The mobile phone is undoubtedly one of the most essential electronic devices to consumers today. And with the availability of the Hug, we’re giving iPhone users  a new way to easily recharge – helping them get just a little more convenience and reliability out of the device that they so strongly rely upon each day.” Shashi Reddy, the CEO of Case-mate, explained.
