When it comes to hidden object games, I’m sure that all of us are well aware of what these are all about. The general consensus is that, although there is not much to do, except use your keen sense of observation to find the right objects, there are times when the story is a lot more captivating than the game itself.

If you are not sure whether or not to try out the new Insider Tales: The Secret of Casanova, let me just go up front and give it a thumbs up. I have to admit that the game can really swift you inside a wondrous world, the way few hidden object games can, and this is probably because it uses as its main focus point the real and not fictional character of Casanova.

As the world’s greatest lover, Casanova’s secrets when it came to matters of the heart have always been craved for and throughout history various lore legends have speculated what drove him to be the world’s greatest adventurer in this regard. In The Secret of Casanova, you take on the role of Francesca di Porta, who one day receives a phone call from one of her old friends, professor Manini. What starts as a friendly visit to an old friend ventures her into the adventure of a lifetime as she travels the world in search for clues of what Casanova’s greatest secret might be.

Starting off from a fragment that Casanova himself wrote, you get to travel to Paris, Venice, Vienna and Prague in search of four parts of a medallion that hides the secret of the Fifth element that changed Casanova’s view on life. As you venture through these romantic locations, the game uses remarkably detailed graphics that paint a warm and yet vivid environment.

Besides the hidden object part of the game, you will also be challenged to solve a wide range of puzzles that vary from breaking the secret code of a safe or a lock to finding the difference between two images. The game has a unique ability of carrying out a plot in its finest details. This probably lies in the variety of sceneries that you get to explore and mostly in the realistic nature the game unfolds. For instance, whenever you are done with a scene you don’t just get thrown to the next puzzle. The game is thought up so that you never know what to expect and these new twists of events have a way of keeping you glued to the chair until you accomplish your objective.

Perhaps another key element that triggers such a unique gameplay experience is the background soundtrack. As you walk the streets of Paris, the music is nothing but charming and as for Vienna, nothing compares to a piece of an aristocratic music. Throughout the entire game you will get the feeling of a story being told and not of a hidden object game that comes with puzzles to solve and hints to your next object whereabouts.

If you start playing the game, the sixty-minute trial will only last for so long and leave you with a lingering desire for more. If you feel the need to consume the full extent of the experience, unlocking all the features of the game is only 19.99 dollars away.
