“Can’t go wrong with this pick” because she’ll be great, says insider

The Super Bowl is one of the most watched televised events in the world and not just by football fans. A 30-second spot for an ad sells for as much as $4 million (€2.99 million – at the 2014 edition in February), and whoever lands the gig of Super Bowl Halftime performer is guaranteed months of extra publicity through media coverage.

In 2014, it was the Bruno Mars, with a special appearance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which, unfortunately, wasn’t that well received because they didn’t play their instruments live. Previous years saw memorable performances by Beyonce, Madonna or the Black Eyed Peas.

For the 2015 edition, the first contender has emerged: country singer Carrie Underwood. This is just a rumor at this point but SportsBlog claims to have it on good authority that she’s in negotiations for the gig.

And she would do a perfect job too.

“[She] already has serious ties to the National Football League. A few inside sources revealed to us that Carrie Underwood most likely will be doing the super bowl halftime show this year. Football fans already know her from Sunday Night Football, and country music is more mainstream than ever. Can’t go wrong with this pick,” the report says.

If you know anything of Carrie Underwood, even if country music isn’t your cup of tea, you know the amount of effort she invests in delivering spectacular live performances. Should she get the Super Bowl Halftime gig, she’s bound to do something over the top and of high quality at the same time.

I, for one, would love to see this happen. What about you? Let me know in the comments section below.
