14 DAY TRIAL // It’s been a few months that rumor of a sequel to SATC first emerged, but diehard fans can now breathe easily knowing that it is happening, as the writer / director of “The Movie” has just confirmed for E! Online. The legendary Carrie Bradshaw & Co. will soon be making a return on the silver screen in a brand new adventure.
Talk of a sequel first started when “The Movie” proved extremely successful at the box-office, which meant, in turn, that fans of the original HBO series would probably also welcome in the same manner yet another long feature adventure of the four women. Just the other day, word got out in the media that the entire cast was on board with the sequel, just that no contracts had yet been signed. That too has been dealt with, it has emerged.
“I’m very excited to work with these amazing actresses again and would love to give everyone more information about the sequel... but I’m busy,” writer and director Michael Patrick King says in a statement to E! Online, which has also been the first to bring the scoop of a sequel in the making. Moreover, another source tells the same e-zine that all the contracts have been signed and the wheels set in motion towards making another glitzy, R-rated comedy with and for women.
In 2008, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Catrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, the four ladies of the HBO series with the same name, came together again to offer a delicious insight into the fabulous world of fashion and men. With a budget of $65 million, “The Movie” grossed over $150 million at the international box-office, while also bringing joy to the millions of fans worldwide who had been desperately asking throughout the years for the reunion to happen.
In recent weeks, rumors of a sequel have been building up, with Britney Spears herself being reportedly in for a small part in it. Now that King has confirmed that the movie is a go, all that’s left for fans to do is wait a while longer to find out more details on the cast, the wardrobe and, of course, a release date.
