Carmageddon: Reincarnation has just entered beta, meaning that the full edition of the game is now available to those who own the game on Steam Early Access.

Developer Stainless Games has also released a brutal new trailer for the game, featuring the proper music a Carmageddon game should have - loud drums and guitar riffs.

The racing game features a unique twist, consisting of the fact that, many times, preventing your opponents from finishing the race by mercilessly smashing their car is more fruitful than just speeding down the track is.

The game features an incredibly detailed physics model and one of the most impressive vehicle damage systems ever created, resulting in pretty gnarly collisions. You can see the full extent of the destruction in Carmageddon: Reincarnation in the video below, showing that it not only stayed faithful to the original but even managed to make everything more brutal and exciting.

Racing has never been so great

The game was funded through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter back in 2012, with a projected release date of 2013. Since then, the team greatly expanded the scope of the video game, and its release date had to be pushed back by quite a while.

In any case, Carmageddon: Reincarnation now includes the career mode, freeplay, multiplayer, Steam achievements, challenges, and all the cars and arenas the development team planned.

Stainless aims to update the game continuously during the beta and is hoping to garner as much feedback as possible from its fans. The company has also issued a warning that nothing is sacred, not even character progression during the beta, which could get wiped at any point.

For the time being, Carmageddon: Reincarnation is only available for Windows PC, as a Steam Early Access title, but Mac OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are also in the works, due out sometime later this year.
