14 DAY TRIAL // Capcom emphasizes that, due to its partnership with Sony, Street Fighter V won't ever launch on the Xbox One console, but only on the PS4 and the PC platforms. As such, users of Microsoft's platform shouldn't get their hopes up about an eventual announcement.
Street Fighter V was revealed to the world a short while ago, and while many fans were quite pleased with its gameplay screenshots, videos, and details, others were shocked to see that the new fighting game is coming only to PC and PS4.
However, given that quite a few titles nowadays are platform exclusive only for a short while and then launch on other devices, Xbox One users still hope that the new Street Fighter will appear for their console.
Street Fighter V won't ever appear on Xbox One
Unfortunately for them, Capcom bursts that bubble in a new talk with Gamespot, where it emphasizes that the close partnership with Sony prevents it from ever releasing Street Fighter V on the Xbox One. As such, only PC and PS4 owners will be able to enjoy the fighting experience.
"One comment we see a lot is that something like a Super Street Fighter 5 is going to come out on Xbox. But the reality is that this is a real partnership. We are console exclusive for this franchise for this numbered run. I can say the relationship with Sony does open doors for things we haven’t been able to do in the past. The relationship serves a gameplay and development purpose, and not just a marketing value," Capcom's representative mentions.
As such, it seems that Street Fighter V is in the situation of Titanfall, as EA's shooter only appeared on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC, and won't ever debut for the PS3 or PS4 devices, due to Microsoft's contract with Electronic Arts and developer Respawn Entertainment.
Expect to hear and see more of Street Fighter V next week, on June 15, during Sony's E3 2015 press event.
